A WordPress + WooCommerce site with a custom plugin that lets customers build their own lunch menu deals, with no paid plugins.

Problem

A lunch box service selling sandwiches, salads and beverages wanted to offer menu deals, for example 3 sandwiches, 2 salads and 2 beverages for one price. Customers needed to choose exactly which items went into their deal.

Paid bundle plugins could do this, but the client's budget was tight and she didn't want another license to pay for.

What I built

A WordPress and WooCommerce website for the business, plus a custom menu deal plugin built from scratch.

Deal rules on the product page: for each menu deal, the client chooses which sandwiches, salads and beverages are allowed and how many of each the deal includes.
Customers mix their own deal: on the product page, visitors pick their items within those limits, for example 2 of one sandwich and 1 of another, then 1 of salad A and 1 of salad C.
Selections follow the order: each customer's choices are saved to the order and shown in the cart, at checkout and in the order emails.

Client name is withheld under NDA.

Result

The client got menu deals without paying for a bundle plugin license.
She sets up and changes deals herself, from the product page, without a developer.
Every order and order email shows exactly which items the customer chose, so nothing is lost between ordering and preparing the lunch boxes.
